BENNETT, Alan
Alan Bennett was born in 1945 and has been paintings and drawing trees, landscape, and people since childhood. Alan was educated at Lascelles Secondary School and studied at Harrow School of Art and at Sheffield College of Art, after which he was employed by Brunel University 1969-2006 with his final 25 years as Curator of the Gallery and Art Collection and the University awarded him an Honorary Fellowship in 2008. Alan moved from West London to Suffolk in 2007 and now lives and paints in Halesworth. Alan paints in oils and a speciality is landscapes with a profusion of trees and even in the setting of a spacious landscape, the tree species can be instantly identified. His work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy also showing at the Nature in Art Gallery and Museum at Twigworth near Gloucester: Brunel University, London, and other galleries, particularly in East Anglia with a solo show at Windsor Castle in 2002. He donated a work to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2012 'Spring Woodland' and in 2013 a pencil sketch 'Cedar and St Andrew's Church'.
