Sylvia Philpot was born in 1943 and was married to Alan Roger Philpot in 1963. Sylvia studied at Suffolk College, gaining an 'A' level and proceeded to a B.A. (hons) in Fine Arts she also studied privately under Anthea Durose and Charles Debenham (born 1933) in Colchester, Essex and latterly gained a B.A. at the University of the Creative Arts in 2018. Sylvia has developed an approach to art which enables her to paint in various media and techniques and to explore creative painting without the constraints of conforming to a specific style. She has delivered classes at Studio 33 on the Norfolk/Suffolk border where students learn about the techniques of the masters and improve their skills through tutor led courses using pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media. A member of the Eye Arts Guild 1998-2012 and for four years was its chairman. She has exhibited from her studio at Cranley Cottage, Eye, Suffolk, in Essex at Dedham Art Centre; Minories, Colchester and Great Oakley and in Suffolk at the Eye Arts Guild and Stowmarket Art Centre, she was also shown at BT Art Exhibition in London where she won the award for the most promising Artist.
