Debbie Wendt

As Deborah Anne Wendt, she was born at Hounslow, Middlesex in 1967, daughter of David H. Wendt and his wife Catherine A. née Gilchrist, who married at Richmond-upon-Thames in 1966, Debbie is a sister of Richard Wendt [q.v.]. Having lived in Sudbury, Suffolk for many years, at about the age of twenty-five she realised that she had artistic ability and obtained a B.A. honours degree, majoring in Art and minoring in Sociology, from Roehampton Institute in London. An artist, who resided at 27 Hardy Court, Sudbury, and entered the competition to provide a mural for the Sudbury Medical Centre, coming second to Naomi McIlroy [q.v.]. Debbie later moved to Cemetery Road, Ipswich and in 2003 Ipswich gallery owner, Bob Zablok of Chambers Gallery in Dial Lane, Ipswich, encouraged her to make her living as an artist, and selling her first painting. Her more recent interests have been drawn towards the abstract works and theory of Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), and the semi-abstract periods of Jackson Pollack (1912-1956) and Mark Rothko (1903-1970) and she also takes commission works. www.debbiewendtartist.co.uk
