McILROY, Naomi

As Naomi Elizabeth Shipp, she was born at Hertford in 1978, daughter of Anthony V. Shipp and his wife Ruth E. née McGill, who married at Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire in 1969. Naomi married at Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire in 2002, Neil Antony McIlroy and paints under the name of Naomi McIlroy. Naomi graduated with a Ceramics B.A. from Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts in 2001, since when has been developing her techniques and ideas, drawing on her interests in nature, art, history, myths, and stories. Naomi worked with ceramics but over the years has used differing techniques, but her art was on hold for a while since having two daughters. Living at Cavendish Road, Clare in Suffolk she won the top £5,000 art prize in the competition for Sudbury's Church Field Road Health Centre with her artwork, 'Meadow Walk' taking pride of place in the centre's atrium. The artwork features a series of mixed media collages, including photographs taken along Meadow Walk in Sudbury, the communal area and river views. She has exhibited at Waltham Forest Arts Club and elsewhere.
