Moira Hazel

As Moira Sage, she was born at Pontypridd, South Wales in 1949, daughter of Henry Thomas Sage (21 February 1924-12 July 1999) and his wife Marjorie née Elias, who married at Ploughley, Oxfordshire in 1948. Moira spent her childhood in Wales and in Hampshire and studied at Dartington College of Arts. She married at Winchester, Hampshire in 1979, William Y. Hazel and paints under the name of Moira Hazel. For some 13 years was a teacher then an Art Advisory teacher for three years with a British Forces Education School in Germany followed by three years in Cyprus after which she moved to Suffolk. Moira loves travel, both home and abroad, for inspiration, enjoying the vibrant colours, light and brightness of the Mediterranean regions, or the fascination of the fishing villages of Cornwall. Working with glass using the glass fusion method, producing colourful glass paintings, wall/window hangings and jewellery. As Moira Hazel, she has exhibited at many galleries across the UK including at Buckenham Galleries, Southwold; Taplin Gallery, Woodbridge and Elsey's Gallery, Bury St Edmund's, all in Suffolk; The Quay Gallery, 4 High Street, Blakeney Norfolk and at Cambridge Contemporary Art; D'art Gallery, 4 Lower Street, Dartmouth; The Moreton Gallery, Queens Head House, High Street, Moreton-in-Marsh; Montpellier Gallery, 8 Chapel Street, Stratford-upon-Avon; Enid Lawson Gallery, New Fetter Lane, London and Cove Gallery, 9 Trinity Street, Weymouth. A member of the Ipswich Art Society and exhibited from Hemplands, Church Road, Westhorpe, Stowmarket, Suffolk in 2006 an acrylic on canvas 'Way Over'. After spending some thirty years in East Anglia, she now lives in Dorset.
