Moira Hazel

As Moira Sage, she was born at Pontypridd, South Wales in 1949, daughter of Henry Thomas Sage (1924-1999) and his wife Margorie née Elias, who married at Ploughley, Oxfordshire in 1948, Moira spent her childhood in Wales and in Hampshire. Educated at Dartington College of Arts and married at Winchester, Hampshire in 1979, William Y. Hazel and paints under the name of Moira Hazel. For the next 13 years was a teacher afterwards an Art Advisory teacher for three years with BFES in Germany followed by three years in Cyprus and then moved to Suffolk. Moira loves to travel for inspiration at both home and abroad, enjoying the vibrant colours, light and brightness of the Mediterranean regions, or the fascination of the fishing villages of Cornwall. She is now working with glass, using the glass fusion method with this colourful versatile medium producing glass paintings, wall/window hangings and jewellery. As Moira Hazel, she exhibited in Suffolk at Buckenham Gallery, Southwold, the Taplin Gallery, Woodbridge and at The Quay Gallery Blakeney Norfolk. A member of the Ipswich Art Society and exhibited from Hemplands, Church Road, Westhorpe, Stowmarket, Suffolk in 2006 an acrylic on canvas 'Way Over'. After 30 years in East Anglia, she now lives in Dorset. www.moirahazel.co.uk
