CHAPMAN, Miranda
Miranda Josephine Chapman was born in the Colchester district of Essex in July 1958, daughter of Brian E. Chapman and his wife Gwendoline A. née Nash, who married at Braintree, Essex in 1956. Miranda gained a B.A. (hons) in Fine Art from Newcastle Polytechnic in 1980. As Miranda Chapman she exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from Upper Haye Cottage, Fingrinhoe, Colchester in 1980, one picture 'Reclining Nude'. She married in the Colchester district in 1980, Michael George Lambert and whilst her four children were young, her work focused on illustration and portraits but later on commissions for murals, particularly trompe l'oeil, and paint effects. Recently she returned to printmaking, especially etching, finding fascination in the processes. Wherever possible working directly onto the plate, her work is figurative and inspired by the human form and the landscapes of East Anglia and she regularly exhibits with the Gainsborough’s House Print Workshop at Sudbury, Suffolk and is also as part of the 4PRINTmakers group and has also shown at Elsey's Gallery, Bury St Edmund's; Quay Theatre Gallery, Sudbury and Apex Gallery, Bury St Edmund's. Miranda still lives at Aldham, near Colchester.
