BURNS, David
David P. Burns, studied for his Bachelor of Arts Fine Art degree at the Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, specialising in painting, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Leicester. He then went on to teach in Further Education colleges and several large comprehensive schools in the Midlands and Suffolk including the University Campus Suffolk where, in the 1970s, he developed their photographic department. He married at Thorington, Suffolk in 2000, Vivienne Burns née Waters. David's paintings are based on pure abstraction and are fundamentally a personal investigation into the ways in which he can experiment. Each painting is resolved through the application of layers of paint, and he works on several canvases at the same time with each layer on each painting influences his work on the following canvas. He donated a work to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2012 'Opus' and in 2013 a watercolour & pen 'Honey Bee, Apis Mellifera'.
