KEEP, Jonathan
Jonathan P. Keep was born at Johannesburg, South Africa in 1958 and spent his early years in that country. Keep was educated at the University of Natal 1976-1979, obtaining his B.A. (hons) Fine Art degree. After working in several studios and a period of teaching, in 1986 he came to England and settled in Suffolk. He then attended the Royal College of Art, London 1999–2002, for his master's degree where his postgraduate show was awarded overall prize-winner of the Lattice Group Awards and he was subsequently awarded a Wood Foundation Graduate Arts Bursary. Jonathan's work has been exhibited widely including at Collect in the Victoria and Albert Museum; Network Europe at the Museum of International Ceramic Art, Denmark; Unexpected Too at Sotheby's in New York; the Carlin Gallery, Paris; Puls Gallery, Brussels and Sarah Myerscough Fine Art, London. In an artist's advisory role, Keep was involved in the Working Party for the Centre for the Visual Arts, Bury St Edmund's and on the steering committee of the Visual Arts Marketing & Business Development Scheme in Suffolk. He sat on the Advisory Panel of the Hub Arts Centre in North Kesteven, Lincolnshire and assisted in an advisory capacity to Platform 5, a professional development program for emerging artists in the Eastern Region. He has exhibited his pottery at Eastern Arts Touring Exhibition at Norwich and Ipswich and at Koblenz, Germany also exhibiting at 'Cultural Connections', Bury St Edmund's Art Gallery; 'On the Border', Suffolk and Essex Open Exhibition; the Minories, Colchester; 'Five Alive', Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich, and many others in the U.K. and abroad. His studio is at 31 Leiston Road, Coldfair Green, Knodishall, Saxmundham, Suffolk and was an Independant Artist & Variable hours Lecturer at the University of Suffolk.
