Honor Surie

As Honoria Dorcas Surie, she was born at Watford, Hertfordshire in 1944, daughter of Henry Lawrence Hutton Surie (29 November 1905-9 January 1995), an aircraft electrical representative, and his wife Queenie Dorcas née Fry (17 February 1905-9 November 2003), who married at Finsbury, London on 14 February 1931 and in 1939 Henry was living at Himley Farm, Ploughley, Oxfordshire. Honor studied graphics for three years and then worked in advertising and later went on to study ceramics at Richmond School of Arts followed by an Open University course in glaze techniques. Honor completed her training with a postgraduate course at Norwich School of Art, gaining a Master's in Fine Art. Well-known for her ceramic work, Honor has turned her attention to painting in the past few years, using acrylics in subtle muted colours, she depicts the Suffolk landscape with much authority and sensitivity. She exhibits at Peter Pears Gallery in Aldeburgh also exhibits elsewhere throughout East Anglia and at the Gallery at Foyles in London. She married at Watford in 1964, Graham Martin Hussey (born 9 January 1937) and under the name of Honor Hussey also runs the Butley Pottery at Mill Lane, Butley, Suffolk. A member of Suffolk Open Studios from 5 Badingham Road, Framlingham, Suffolk.
