COBBOLD, Florence Jane
Florence Jane Cobbold was baptised at Walton-cum-Felixstowe, Suffolk on 6 March 1856, daughter of Horace Cobbold (16 January 1824-4 March 1890), a farmer at Capel Hall, Trimley, Suffolk and his wife Katherine Sarah Haward (1831-25 April 1914), youngest daughter of Thomas Haward of The Villa, Sproughton, near Ipswich, who married at Sproughton on 2 February 1854, Florence was a sister to Emily Clementina Cobbold. As Miss Florence Cobbold of Capel Hall, she exhibited several works at the 1883 Woodbridge Industrial & Art Exhibition at the Lecture Hall including two oils, 'Arundel Castle' and 'Daffodils'. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club from Capel Hall, Trimley St Martin in 1882 and in 1883 exhibited one oil 'Canterbury Cathedral' and three table lots 'Ventnor Church' and 'Astley Church' and a 'Tobacco Jar', in 1884 two paintings 'Silver Birch' and 'Capel Hall, Trimley' and in 1885 two pictures both entitled 'China'. In 1891, she was staying with widow Harriet Cobbold at 23 Selbourne Road, Hove and ten years later with her widowed mother Katherine, at 2 Undercliff Terrace, Felixstowe-cum-Walton. Florence Jane Cobbold was of Shellcot, Holton St Mary, Ipswich when she died at Krishna, Dedham, Essex on 5 September 1938, aged 82, she was unmarried.
