SCOTT, Lesley
As Lesley Munkman, she was born at Potton, Bedfordshire in 1941, daughter of Frank Harry Munkman (16 October 1906-16 May 1973), a market gardener, and his wife Bertha May née Boness (11 July 1910-19 May 1984), daughter of the late Arthur Boness of Back Street, Biggleswade, who married at Biggleswade Parish Church on 8 August 1931 and in 1939 were living at 71 Horslow Street, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Lesley studied sculpture at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts 1959-1963 under Karel Vogel (1897-1961) and Giacomo Baragli (1934-1989). She married at Potton in July 1962, Richard Ridsdale Scott. A figurative sculptor using materials such as fibreglass, bronze and aluminium and worked from Walberswick, Suffolk 1965-1985, where she ran a Saturday Sculpture Group, later dividing her time between Halesworth, Suffolk and Loscombe, Bridport, Dorset. Lesley has exhibited at the Halesworth Gallery in Suffolk and Hampshire Open Studios. Her commissioned work includes maquettes of gymnasts for Thames Televison trophies.
