ALDERTON, Winifred Minnie
As Winifred Minnie Montgomery, she was born at Hackney, London on 12 July 1901, second daughter of the two children of William John Montgomery (1868-1918), a printer, and his wife Lillie Selina née Grant (4 June 1869-1951), who married at Hackney in 1892. In 1911, Winifred was a 9-year-old, living at The Chase, Thundersley, Essex with her parents, 42-year-old William and 41-year-old Lillie with a sibling sister, 15-year-old Annie Georgina. Winifred married at Rochford, Essex on 12 June 1926, Frank William Alderton (25 June 1897-31 December 1984) and painted under the name of Mrs. Winifred Alderton. In 1939 she was living at 35 St Michael's Road, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire with her widowed mother Lillie. A member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle 1961-1966 from Lowestoft, Suffolk. Winifred Minnie Alderton lived at 24 Charles Miller Court, Cross Road, Leiston, Suffolk where she died on 5 February 1979.
