Paul Becker

Paul Becker studied at Kingston Polytechnic 1986-1989 for his B.A. in fine art (Painting) and at the Slade School of Fine Art 1997-1999 for his master's in fine art (Painting). Paul Becker is a painter and writer working with a wide variety of influences across literature, performance, film, history and art history and a lecturer in Fine Art at Newcastle University 2013-2018. Paul has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally including at the Royal Academy and with solo exhibitions at Mackintosh Lane, Homerton, London in 2022, Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp in 2017, Le Salon'dArt, Rue de l'Enseignement 45, 1000 Bruxelles in 2013 and Chapter Arts Centre, Market Road, Cardiff in 2005 and has worked with a wide variety of galleries, publishers, and curatorial initiatives such as Auto Italia 44 Bonner Road, London; Celine Gallery 493 Victoria Road, Glasgow; Mauve, Wielandgasse 16, 1100 Wien, Vienna and Juan de la Cosa in Mexico City and his published work is concerned with the uses of fictional narrative as a way of re-investigating and re-mediating history. He married in the Woodbridge district of Suffolk in 2004 Nadia Hebson and is now (2021) based in Stockholm.
