Nadia Hebson

Nadia Jane Hebson was born at Romsey, Hampshire on 28 January 1974, daughter of Robert Hebson (23 August 1946-2000) and his wife Bryony Heather née Webber, who married at Southampton in 1967. Nadia studied at St Martin's School of Art 1993–1996 and at the Royal Academy Schools 1997–2000. In 2007, she was awarded a Derek Hill Rome Scholarship at the British School at Rome and the following year appointed Artist in Residence at Durham Cathedral and was awarded the Sovereign European Art Prize and lecturer in Fine Art at Newcastle University. Nadia married at Woodbridge, Suffolk in 2004 Paul Becker. Nadia Hebson exhibited at the Royal Academy from The Cottage, The Old Granary, Tide Mill Way, Woodbridge, Suffolk, and received the Arts Council England Individual Award and, after working in Berlin for several years, has exhibited internationally. A senior Lecturer in Painting at the Royal Institute of Art Stockholm and was Dorich House Museum Artist in Residence. Associate Professor, Co-Director of Studies, Graduate Programmes, Head of Graduate Painting, Graduate Tutors at University College London - Slade School of Fine Art currently researching three separatist proto-art schools to explore alternative approaches to art education grounded in early forms of consciousness raising.
