RIDLEY, Annabel
As Annabel J. Firm Smith, she married in the Waveney district of Suffolk in 1984, Neil Ridley and paints under the name of Annabel Ridley. Annabel studied at St Martin's School of Art and at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts and at the University of London Institute of Education. After leaving London she moved to Suffolk to set up a studio where she has successfully worked on public and private commissions, developed educational links and has been involved with Arts Projects, artists groups and associations. Her recent work uses multi–print processes with paint often blurring the boundaries between the two disciplines of painting and printmaking, producing work on a large scale, which responds to both inner and outer worlds and uses creative process, memory, and drawing. Her private and public commissions include Broomfield and Colchester Hospitals; Royal Holloway College London University; the Moore Building; South Bank Banner Design and Royal Festival Hall. Annabel currently leads Summer Photo Silkscreen Print Workshop at Gainsborough's House Print Workshop, Sudbury and her teaching experience include foundation and First year degree students in London and in Schools in Suffolk and she has worked extensively with groups and artists projects. A member of the Suffolk Craft Society and of the Suffolk Open Studios from Red House Farm, Garden Studio, Ipswich Road, Nedging Tye, Ipswich, Suffolk.
