Richard Bassett

Richard Robert Barrett was born at Nottingham in 1975, son of Robert D Barrett (1955-) and his wife Sally Jean née Moore, who married at Nottingham in 1970. Robert studied Interior Design at Kingston University 1993–1996 graduating B.A. (hons) taking his master's in architecture and interiors at the Royal College of Art 1996–1998 and a Postgraduate Certificate (RIBA Part 3), Nottingham Trent, 2010-2011. Richard married in the Waveney district of Suffolk in 2004 Sally Ann Bassett née Clifton. Richard Bassett is based in Suffolk and a registered architect specialising in small scale residential design and has over 20 years of experience in the design and planning and has built up a specialism for working in listed contexts, having gained planning approvals for alterations to grade II and II* buildings, but is equally at home working on more modest buildings, such as the Victorian terrace, mid-century modern housing or new builds. Quick observational sketching is an essential skill to any designer and Richard regularly draws the buildings and environments around him, as part of work and as a leisure activity. In 2012 he contributed to the Westhall Secret Postcard Auction 'Newmills, Norwich' and in 2013 a watercolour 'The Green Lane'.
