SOANES, Arthur Ernest
Arthur Ernest Soanes was born at Loddon, Norfolk on 24 June 1887, son of Walter Soanes (c1846-1916), a farm labourer, and his wife Jane née Crowe (c1848-1909), who married at Kessingland, Suffolk on 27 January 1863. In 1891, Arthur was a 3-year-old, living at Beccles Road, Burgh St Peter, Loddon with his parents, 45-year-old Walter and 42-year-old Jane, with seven siblings Charles 16, Herbert 14, Clement 12, Mary 10, Bessie 8, Frederick 6 and Percy 1, all born at Loddon. Arthur married at Loddon on 19 July 1916, Sarah Ann Daisy Barber (14 January 1897-23 July 1978). In 1939, a smallholder, living at Dicks Mount, Loddon, Norfolk with his wife Sarah Ann and their son Alec, born 12 January 1917. A member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle 1946-1947 from Gisleham, near Lowestoft, Suffolk. Arthur Ernest Soanes died at The Caravan, Aldeby, Norfolk on 27 July 1965 and both he and his wife are buried in Burgh St Peter Churchyard, Norfolk.
