CHANDLER, Colin John
Colin John Chandler was born at Luton, Bedfordshire in 1955, son of William S. Chandler and his wife Brenda J. née Robinson, who married at Bedford in 1953. An artist in mixed media, producing non-figurative, decorative works and became a professional artist in 1991. Colin Chandler is a wildlife artist and paints his wildlife subjects with no indication of their environment. This form of presentation demands that the artist fully understands and correctly interprets the subject. He uses no visual distractions or props which mean that his works instantly focus and hold the viewer with the single image. Colin exhibited with the John Russell Gallery, Ipswich from 1985, the Medici Gallery, London from 1991, Barbara Moran Fine Art, New York from 1999, Alexander Meddowes Fine Art, Edinburgh from 2002, W.H. Patterson Fine Arts at 19 Albermarle Street, London from 2008 and Botanical Gardens Gallery, Geneva from 2009 and at Fitzroy Modern Art in Norfolk and elsewhere. Public and corporate collections hold his work with the Duke of Bedford at Woburn has the largest private collection. Colin lives and has his studio at Ipswich.
