LIGHTFOOT, Paul
Paul J Lightfoot was born in the Hartismere district of Suffolk in 1956, son of Anthony Lightfoot and his wife Juliet V. Mostyn, daughter of George Anthony Mostyn, who married at Nice in France 1951-1954 and they lived at Valley Farm Cottage, The Street, Brundish, Woodbridge, Suffolk. At the age of 15, Paul entered the Ipswich School of Art, but left in the second year, however, his avidity for art had taken hold and he started drawing pictures in a pointillistic style. In his early twenties he moved to London and, needing to earn a living, he started painting decorative finishes and murals, which he ended up doing in several countries for private and commercial clients. But he continued painting pictures and eventually was able to devote more time to it and by the 1990’s was hiring studio space in Notting Hill Gate in London. In 1997 he spent some time in France devoting himself to painting, and in 2012 he moved back to Suffolk. He has had three solo shows one in London and in Toulouse, and the Cultural Centre in Dijon and in the 1990s he also exhibited at the new Bruton Gallery and Wolseley Fine Arts in London. In 2011 had an exhibition at the Gallery at Foyles, Charing Cross Road, London and intended to have his first exhibition since then, with the work of his grandfather Tony Mostyn at The Anchor, Main Street, Walberswick in April 2020 but this was cancelled due to travel restrictions.
