Caro Burberry

Caro Burberry grew up surrounded by the fields and woodlands of rural Buckinghamshire that provided her with a deep and enduring connection to nature. Educated at Pates Grammar School for Girls, Cheltenham 1974-1978 and studied Life Drawing; Figurative Sculpture; Portrait Sculpture; Modelling; Carving; Direct Build at Frink School of Figurative Sculpture 2001-2003 where her mentors included Alan Thornhill (1921–2020) and Peter Randall-Page (1954-). Caro was a gallery assistant at the John Russell Gallery 1988-1995 and a professional sculptor in bronze from 1998 and has had extensive experience as an exhibiting artist and in public speaking and media events. Caro discovered her love for creating sculpture in hot-poured metal while working collaboratively with fine art foundries and museums in the UK and USA and is equally at home modelling in clay, making a mould, then pulling a wax for bronze pour, as she is carving in Styrofoam, incorporating natural materials and other inclusions for direct burn out with molten iron. Complementing her own studio practice, Caro has led specialist creative workshops for over 25 years and been a guest lecturer at De Montfort University. Her sculptures cast in bronze and iron are commissioned and exhibited worldwide. Caro works from Butley Mills Studios and exhibits with Gallery East at Woodbridge, Suffolk and has shown at Great House Gallery.
