Katherine Deborah Laydon was born in Middlesex in July 1955, daughter of Ian Laydon (28 Jun 1922-15 January 2010) and his wife Mary née Keating, who married at Middleton, Lancashire in 1948. Kate, as she is known, studied at City Lit and short courses at the Royal Drawing School. Kate Laydon’s paintings explore the gentle beauty of everyday subjects, still life arrangements, soft-hued flowers, and landscapes that balance observation with mood. An artist working mainly in oil and some acrylic. A member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at 50 Deben Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
