Charlotte Van Emst was born in 1957 daughter of Johannes E. H. Van Emst, an English teacher at The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, and his wife Patricia Dorothy née Back (1920-2004), who married at Lothingland, Suffolk in 1952 and they lived at Mancroft Towers, Oulton Broad, Suffolk. Charlotte studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and at the University of Brighton. The author and illustrator of several children’s books including ‘Little Rabbit's Big Day’, ‘Herbie Dances’ and ‘Herbie the Dancing Hippo’. An artist and printmaker living in North Suffolk.
