COBB, John Francis

1946 - ?

John Francis Cobb was born at Ipswich in 1946. John studied at Great Yarmouth College of Art, Coventry School of Art, and the Royal College of Art. His sculptures take several forms, including head themes such as in the Art Council's Head Case IV 1978. Among Cobb's showings was at the 8th Paris Biennale of 1973, the 1977 Silver Jubilee Exhibition in Battersea Park, and at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park 1979-1980. John has exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy Sculpture Exhibition 1993 and had solo exhibitions at Anne Berthoud Gallery, 1 Stanley Gardens, London in 1991 and at North House Gallery, Manningtree, and won the Walter Neurath Award for Sculpture in 1971 and the Sainsbury Award in 1974. John held a Henry Moore Fellowship in Sculpture at Norwich School of Art 1985-1988 and exhibited wood sculptures at the Royal Academy.
