WATCHORN, Bobbie
Roberta C Fryers was born in Leeds in 1953, daughter of Gordon Robert Fryers, M.D., M.R.C.P. (17 May 1922-22 May 2008) and his wife Rosemary Frances née Evans, M.B., B.Sc. (21 February 1922-30 July 1994), who married at St Pancras, London on 25 November 1946. Roberta married in Surrey in 1976 Simon James Watchorn (May 1955-) and works as Bobbie Watchorn. Bobbie has lived most of her life in the countryside, and being a farmer's wife spends a lot of time in the rural environment, immersed in nature and observing both domesticated and non domesticated animals. Bobbie had no formal art training and is mainly self-taught with a few life and portrait classes over the years, but has spent time with ceramicists and sculptors Brendan Hesmondhalgh (February 1973-) and David Cooke (1970-)in Yorkshire. She finds that she can express herself most freely with the three-dimensional image, working in ceramics and cold cast bronze and will draw several 'sketch pieces' to ensure the sculpture works from all angles and to capture the spirit of the subjects. Bobbie is a member and exhibitor at the Black Dog Arts from Earsham Park Farm, Old Railway Road, Bungay, Suffolk also exhibits with the Bell Gallery, Bungay and the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail
