EQUUS ART GALLERY
The Equus Art Gallery in Sun Lane, Newmarket was opened by partners, artist Lydia Eveleigh and her future husband, racehorse owner and breeder Terence John Minahan (March 1937-12 February 2015) and held its first exhibition in 1990 with the works of local artist Jacquie Jones, Eddie Clark, Renate Blank and Janice Gordon. By around 1998 this was known as the Sun Lane Craft Gallery at 2 Sun Lane, Newmarket, Suffolk just off the High Street in Newmarket, was one of the town's newest and most exciting art galleries and dealers, with a stunning range of art, crafts, gifts, and jewellery. Sun Lane Craft Gallery displayed and sold the work of more than eighty British artists and artisans, most of them working and living in and around Cambridge and Newmarket. It had a range of oil paintings, acrylic paintings, graphics, and prints, as well as variety of sand casted glass and fused glass works and some exquisite ceramic work and a range of pottery. Other Suffolk artists who exhibited with Equus Art Gallery include Anne-Marie Oshelda and the Sun Lane Craft Gallery include Trevor Walter Osborne. This gallery is now permanently closed.
