SPENCER-SMITH, Jenny
Jennifer M. Spencer-Smith studied at the University of Essex 1970-1973 for her B.A. in History of Art, Education, The Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA), 1974-1976 for a Diploma Fine and Decorative Art and City University London 1994-1995 Fine and Decorative Art Studies for a master's degree Museum & Gallery Management. Jenny was Head of Fine and Decorative Art 1989-2012 managing a department responsible for developing the fine and decorative art collections, including organizing and presenting a series of Special Exhibitions, publishing exhibition catalogues and the development of the collections through acquisition and with Romy Jacob, she exhibited watercolours at Clarges Gallery at 158 Walton Street, South Kensington, London in 1996. She was Head of Collections Content at the National Army Museum 2012-2014. Now a freelance art historian, author, and artist with many years’ expertise in researching, identifying (cataloguing), buying and displaying European military works of art dating from the seventeenth century. Recently, with author Ronald Pawly (1956-), they researched military paintings, producing reports for museums and art galleries. Her publications include Painting the Troubles. An Artist in Northern Ireland (2006), Rex Whistler. Artist into Tank Commander (1994), Lady Butler Battle Artist (1987) and others.
