1926 - 2005

As Rosemary Elizabeth Allen Shuter, she was born at Chelmsford, Essex on 8 June 1926, elder daughter of Leonard Robert Warner Allen Shuter (21 March 1887-21 November 1960) and his wife Alice Margaret Alexandra née Foote (12 January 1892-27 March 1977), who married at St Stephen's Church, Lansdown, Bath, Somerset on 7 November 1916. As Miss R. Shuter, a member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club in 1948. She married at Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1948, John Claud Jacob (9 June 1925-19 February 2005), elder son of Major Gen. Sir Ian Jacob when Rosemary was of the The Old Rectory, Rendlesham, Woodbridge. As Romy Jacob, an artist in various media, who travelled to Spain, France, and Italy for her paintings. Anna Airy and Cecil Collins (1908-1999) were influences on Jacob's work and, together with Jenny Spencer-Smith, she exhibited watercolours at Clarges Gallery at 158 Walton Street, South Kensington, London in 1996 and has also exhibited at Drian Galleries and at Galleria Numero in Rome. In 1997 Romy exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 55 Seckford Street, Woodbridge 'Foxgloves'. The author, with Maureen Chessell, of 'Paintings and Embroidery' (1966). Rosemary Elizabeth Allen Jacob died at Woodbridge on 22 August 2005.
