Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery was founded in Chamberlain Square, Birmingham in the heart of the second city in 1885, and now houses the country’s largest collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings and related works. The museum encompasses the Gas Hall, Aston Hall, the Waterhall Gallery of Modern Art and others. In 2012 Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery joined forces with Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum to form the UK’s largest independent museums trust. Birmingham Museums is responsible for governing and managing the museum sites and collections owned by Birmingham City Council, including Aston Hall, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Blakesley Hall, Museum Collections Centre, Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, Sarehole Mill, Soho House, Thinktank and Weoley Castle. Suffolk artists who exhibited at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery include Oliver O'Connor Barrett, Charles Ernest Cundall and Hugh Edmond Francois Marie Tyrel De Poix.
