Nottingham Contemporary

Nottingham Contemporary grew out of the Angel Row Gallery, which presented more than two hundred exhibitions between 1991 and 2007. Nottingham Contemporary and their iconic purpose-built venue, was made possible through capital funding from the Arts Council England, Nottingham City Council, East Midlands Development Agency and Greater Nottingham Partnership. Since opening in 2009, they have welcomed ovdr two million people and presented more than fifty exhibitions and have become renowned for their innovative research and learning programmes. They support artists at various stages of their careers, from presenting first-time solo shows in the UK, to surveys of internationally renowned figures. They often commission major new works, from artists including Lara Favaretto (1973-) and Simon Starling (1967-), and a number of these have been acquired by major collections. Suffolk artists who have exhibited at Nottingham Contemporary include Magda Archer and Ruth Claxton.
