MENIER GALLERY
The Menier Gallery, which opened in 2005, was situated within the historic Menier Chocolate Factory at 51 Southwark Street, minutes from London Bridge, Borough Market and Tate Modern in the heart of one of London's artistic hubs, and attracted many visitors, including art lovers, theatregoers, local residents and tourists. The Menier Gallery offered a space to view and exhibit works of contemporary art and design and was a non-profit initiative of 'Paintings in Hospitals', designed to provide much-needed support for both local and international artists, while playing a pioneering role in the regeneration of the Bankside area, and the Menier Gallery also raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to help Paintings in Hospitals. The National Society of Painters Sculptors Engravers and Potters held bi-annual exhibitions at the Gallery and Suffolk artists who have exhibited at the Menier Gallery include Wendy Brooke-Smith, Gwen Joy Royston and Patrick Wilkins. The Menier Gallery permanently closed its doors in June 2020.
