SALLY HUNTER FINE ART
Sally Elizabeth Hunter (1947-) had run a gallery with her first husband in St Ives, Cornwall in the early 70s, later working with Patrick Seale (7 May 1930–11 April 2014), a dealer and a journalist with 'The Observer' newspaper. In 1984 she took over a gallery at 11 Halkin Arcade, Motcomb Street in Knightsbridge where Sally Hunter Fine Art specialised in modern British art. Sally Hunter married secondly in 1990 Ian Posgate (1932-2017), an insurance broker, the couple had met through a mutual friend in the art business and shared an interest in mid-20th century British art. The gallery closed in 2019 but Sally Hunter continued to work on-line from her London flat at 54 Clarendon Road, London. The sale of The Sally Hunter and Ian Posgate Collection took place at Sworders Auction Rooms in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex achieving a 95% sold rate, with a Hunter sale total of £737,830. Suffolk artists who exhibited with Sally Hunter include Fred Dubery, Lucy Harwood, Margaret Thomas and Allan Walton.
