ORWELL DECORATIVE AND FINE ARTS SOCIETY
Orwell Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ODFAS) was founded in 1999 and was active in the Ipswich area when in had around one hundred members. The aim of the society was to encourage and promote knowledge and interest in all aspects of the Fine Arts, in this they followed the goals of the Arts Society, the operating name of NADFAS, of whom they were a Member Society. In 2017 Orwell Decorative and Fine Arts Society became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Registered Charity Number of 1174135. Excepting July, August and January, the society held monthly afternoon members meetings nine times a year in which they hosted an illustrated lecture. The society met at Tower Hall, Broadlands Way, Rushmere St Andrew IP4 5SU and lecture topics were selected to provide as wide a variety as possible including ceramics, glass, paintings, mosaics, sculpture, architecture, textiles, jewellery, furniture, garden design, music, literature, theatre and more, with the lectures delivered by well-known and renowned experts. The society also organised regular day trips to notable places of interest including museums, galleries, houses, and gardens in East Anglia. On 7 June 2023, a resolution was passed that the Society should be wound up and dissolved.
