TAUNT, Liz
Elizabeth Ann Taunt, daughter of Derek Taunt, a mathematician, was born in Cambridge in 1952. Liz, as she is known studied on a Fine Art Foundation Course at Cambridge 1968-1970 and at Dartington, Devon 1970-72 for a Diploma of Art and at the Polytechnic of Central London 1974-1975 for her post-graduate Diploma in Arts Administration. Liz has worked as an arts administrator and art therapist and made further studies at Byam Shaw School of Art and Goldsmiths College and in 2009 attended a textile course at West Dean College. For many years she worked on paper and made abstract prints, drawings, and paintings and in 1998 she started using paper to make vessels built with pulps and handmade papers and, after working with textiles and papier mâché for some time, in 2016 she returned to printmaking using many different printmaking techniques including dry point, lino, collagraph and monoprint. On 31 August 2012 she moved from Shepherds Bush to Bungay in Suffolk and now paints happily in her studio at 6 Earsham Street, Bungay. Liz has been exhibiting since 1983 and including the Norwich Print Fair and has taken part in open studios in London and in Suffolk and has work in public and private collections in the UK, Europe, and Russia. A member of the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail.
