Chris Evans

Christopher R. Evans studied illustration and fabric design at St Martin's School of Art and when a student he was encouraged to keep a sketchbook which he now finds a rewarding habit in producing many of my prints from sketches. After graduating he worked in advertising and as a free-lance illustrator working for educational publications. After attending a printmaking course at Suffolk College he began etching and as an illustrator the majority of his work is figurative and now as a contrast, he tends to explore landscape and architecture his prints. Christopher married at Wood Green, London in 1961, Hilary Evans née Punchard and they lived at Eye, Suffolk. Chris’ favourite subjects are coastal scenes especially the variety of shipping from rowing boats to huge container ships with holiday sketches in Italy, France and the British Isles sources of inspiration. Etching is a favourite medium, but he also works on drypoint and collagraphs. He exhibited with the International Mini Print Exhibition in 2017 at Wingfield Barns; the Norwich Print Fair and exhibits with his partner Hilary Evans at the Walsham Arts & Crafts Group at the Priory Room.
