RUTHERFORD, Peter
Peter Brian Rutherford was born in Ipswich in June 1958. Peter was educated at Copleston High School in Ipswich and studied at Ipswich School of Art in illustration and film animation 1974-1978. After graduating he moved to London working in advertising for four years as a visualiser and art director. During which time he commissioned illustration and directed photographers whilst doing freelance illustration and then went to freelance full time. With the help of his future wife Julie Rosoman, they started a small illustration and design company, servicing large design companies and advertising agencies in London. After a few years in London, they moved to a village on the Essex/ Suffolk borders, still servicing London clients also completing more local work. Peter then commenced supplying visuals for a company that designed theme parks all over the world and did visuals for sets and reconstructions of historical events which led to work for the National Trust and similar organisations for several years. He took the opportunity to work on children's books which led to commissions from other publishers.
