Ruth Finn

Ruth Finn studied at Suffolk College 1991-1993 gaining a National Diploma in Art and Design; Croydon College of Art and Design 1993-1996 for a Higher National Diploma in Theatre Design and Realisation and 1996-2010 for a Set and Costume Designer and Scenic Artist. Through her early art and design training it was always painting that she most enjoyed but went on to train and become a Theatre set and costume designer. Theatre excited her as a vehicle that can combine all art forms in one space and in a world that is so involved with screens always felt that the theatre was a wonderful way to experience human contact and storytelling. Ruth Finn's paintings are usually based on something real; architecture or landscape and then they become abstract. Ruth is inspired by images in real life that reflect a disconnection between the contrived and natural worlds that we inhabit and images that provoke a sense of vertigo, through scale. She has exhibited at Artspace Woodbridge; Gallery East, Woodbridge; The Ephemeral Gallery, Saxmundham, all in Suffolk and elsewhere.
