David Harrison

David John Harrison was born at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1950, only son of John H. Harrison and his wife Joyce Evelyn née Hopkinson (29 September 1923-2003), who married at Wayland, Norfolk in 1949. David studied at Norwich School of Art and has been painting for some forty years. He married at Newmarket Registry Office, Suffolk on 1 April 1977, Lorraine Sylvia Martin and they lived at Brandon, Suffolk. David's work is influenced by the forests, parks, rivers, and farmland surrounding his home at Brandon with the ever-changing landscape as the seasons come and go, he is always looking to find order within an apparent disorder in nature. Drawings are made on paper using charcoal, graphite, conte crayon, pastel, and coloured pencil. His speciality is drawing with charcoal on different textured paper, a medium that can be precise and ambiguous at the same time. David is a member of the Institute of East Anglian Artists; the Cambridge Drawing Society and of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists and his paintings in oils or acrylics are on canvas or in the case of gouache, heavy weight textured paper.
