EWING, Alice-Andrea
Alice Andrea Ewing was born at Ipswich in June 1991, daughter of Graeme Ewing and his wife Andrea M. née Harris, who married at Ipswich in 1983. Alice-Andrea is an artist and founder-sculptor living and working in Suffolk and established and leads the craft-design studio Pomarius and has designed and delivered a participatory and educational sculpture programme, the Portable Foundry Project since 2014. Previous exhibitions include those at Battersea Arts Centre, London; Aldeburgh Beach Lookout Arts Club; Soho Farmhouse, Great Tew, Chipping Norton; Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh and Royal Botanical Gardens Kew; David Linley, 60 Pimlico Road, London and locally at Mill Tye Gallery. She collaborated with fashion label Loewe for their 2021 Collection, under creative director Jonathan Anderson. Awards include a Time Space Money bursary award 2020; The BASET Endeavour Award 2019, The British-Australia Society; Hill End AIR, Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, NSW Australia 2019; Selected Artist for TOAST Works of the Heart Campaign 2017; and selected CRAFT Brand/Trader at Top Drawer 2019 for Pomarius. Other participatory and community work includes the role of Director of Jetty Lane C.I.C 2016-17, a community initiative in Woodbridge, Suffolk, established to secure the lease and re-building of the local Arts and Youth Centre, and co-founder of Container Projects 2021, a creative community resource supported by East Suffolk Council, in collaboration with artist May Cornet (born 1975) and filmmaker Emily Richardson. She also works with The Merchant's Table at Woodbridge.
