EWING, Alice-Andrea

Alice Andrea Ewing was born at Ipswich in June 1991, daughter of Graeme Ewing and his wife Andrea M. née Harris, who married at Ipswich in 1983. Andrea is an artist and founder-sculptor living and working in Suffolk and established and leads the craft-design studio Pomarius and has designed and delivered a participatory and educational sculpture programme, the Portable Foundry Project since 2014. Previous exhibitions include those at Battersea Arts Centre, London; Aldeburgh Beach Lookout Arts Club; Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire, London; 9B Cork Street, London; Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh and Royal Botanical Gardens Kew; David Linley, London. She collaborated with fashion label Loewe for their 2021 Collection, under creative director Jonathan Anderson. Awards include a Time Space Money bursary award 2020; The BASET Endeavour Award 2019, The British-Australia Society; Hill End AIR, Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, NSW Australia 2019; Selected Artist for TOAST Works of the Heart Campaign 2017; and selected CRAFT Brand/Trader at Top Drawer 2019 for Pomarius. Other participatory and community work includes the role of Director of Jetty Lane C.I.C 2016-17, a community initiative in Woodbridge, Suffolk, established to secure the lease and re-building of the local Arts and Youth Centre, and co-founder of Container Projects 2021, a creative community resource supported by East Suffolk Council, in collaboration with artist May Cornet (born 1975) and filmmaker Emily Richardson.
