HUDSON, Francis
Francis Hudson was born at Victoria Street, Ipswich on 14 April 1869, son of William Henry Hudson (14 November 1826-1904), a builder, and his wife Maria Jane née Howes (1831-1874), of Debenham, Suffolk who married at Ipswich on 25 September 1852. In 1881, Francis was an 11-year-old scholar, living at 55 Victoria Street, Ipswich with his 53-year-old widowed father William, with siblings Alfred Kossouth 26, Wallace Henry 23, Herbert Charles 21, Laura Maria 19 and Frederick Samuel 16, all born at Ipswich. Francis was an art and handwork instructor at Guildhall School, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk and studied at the Royal Drawing Society and awarded his Art Class Teachers' Certificate in 1899. He married at Ipswich in 1898, Sarah Susannah Pryke (16 November 1870-27 October 1942) and in 1901, a schoolmaster, living at 57 Highfield Road, Widnes, Lancashire. In 1911, an assistant schoolmaster, living at Glentana, 50 Birchfield Road, Widnes with his 40-year-old wife Sarah, who was born at Snape in Suffolk, and their two children Julian Francis 8 and Felix Percy 3, both born at Widnes. Francis Hudson died in 1950.
