POLSTEAD ART GROUP
The Polstead Art Group was first formed as Polstead Art and Craft Group in October 2001, by three local artists and was originally held in one of their homes. Within a short space of time, it moved to the Village Hall and now has a membership of twenty-two. Each meeting would focus on a specific theme, e.g. 'Flowers in containers', 'leaves, berries and kettle', 'vegetables ', 'wrought iron plant stand', 'bowl of fruit ', 'boots', holly and ivy', etc. The Group's first exhibition was in July 2003 and has continued on a more-or-less annual basis. The Group are people of widely varying ages who enjoy painting or drawing and meet each Tuesday afternoon in Polstead Village Hall. The emphasis in the group is enjoyment in a relaxed atmosphere, an important part of which is the mutual help and support between people of differing experience and ability. They extend a warm welcome to all who feel they would like to renew their interest in this pastime, and those who have an interest, but have so far not felt able to become involved. You can be assured of a friendly welcome. They were still operating in 2024. Suffolk artist exhibitors include Dale Devereux Barker, Hazel Bradshaw and Brian Orriss.
