BLAND, Edith Richenda
As Edith Richenda Barclay, she was born at 7 Forest Place, Leytonstone, Essex on 24 April 1849, and baptised at Cromer, Norfolk until 2 December 1869, daughter of Henry Ford Barclay (9 September 1826-12 November 1891), a colonial broker, and his wife Richenda Louisa née Gurney (27 November 1827-12 February 1888), youngest daughter of Samuel Gurney of Ham House, who married at Plaistow, Essex on 13 April 1848, they were Quaker members of the Barclay banking dynasty. Edith married at St Mary's Church, Woodford, Leytonstone on 26 July 1872, Francis Maltby Bland (15 June 1845-29 November 1940), a bank agent, and they moved to Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk. In 1881, Edith was a 31-year-old, living at 20 Whiting Street, Bury St Edmund's with her 35-year-old husband Francis, and their children Francis Lawrence 7, Hugh Michael 6, Esther Rosamund 4, Edith Richenda 3, another son, George K. was born in 1887, all in Bury St Edmund's. As Mrs Bland of Bury, she exhibited at the Bury St Edmund's and West Suffolk Fine Art Society at the Town Hall in 1882. Sometime after 1891 the family moved to Inglethhorpe Manor, Southfield, Emneth, Norfolk where they were living in 1901. Edith Richenda Bland died at Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in 1910 and buried at St Peter's Church, Copdock, near Ipswich.
