HOEY, Lorna
Lorna Ephanie Hoey is from Antrim, Northern Ireland but has worked as an Art teacher in Switzerland and for many years in London secondary schools and adult groups in evening classes, before making her home in Suffolk. Lorna studied at Cambridge House, Ballymena Class of 1965 and Belfast College of Art, now part of Ulster University, Class of 1971 and at Goldsmiths College in London and has a Diploma in Art and Design. An artist and writer, she is fascinated by the open landscapes and high wide skies of Suffolk, quite different from the small fields, stone dykes, and rugged coastline of her native County Antrim, but her earlier work reflects a landscape often depicted in harsh and bitter weather, where she captures the underlying subtleties of moorland and mountain. Lorna works mostly in pastel to depict subjects such as a mysterious light filtering through branches, or a line of dark pines against an atmospheric East Anglian sky. A full member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at 53 Cross Street, Sudbury, Suffolk.
