David William Truzzi-Franconi was born at Stoke Newington, London in 1949, son of Gigetto [George] Truzzi-Franconi, and his wife Margot Lee Robinson, who married at Lambeth, London in 1948. David married at Bromley, Kent in 1976, Jane Elizabeth Groombridge, Jane Truzzi-Franconi. David worked as a calligrapher 1966-1990, working for The Kings, Heralds and Pursuivants of Arms at Her Majesty's College of Arms under the late William T. Lovegrove (1912-1967), M.V.O., Clerk of the Records, becoming Deputy to his successor K. Evans M.V.O. and worked with him on the production of two volumes of the Roll of the Imperial Society of Knights Bachelor and the Memorial Book for the victims of Piper Alpha. Engrossing on Vellum and Whatman paper genealogical and armorial documents, pedigrees, and Royal Licences etc., into the College Records and archives, as well as producing the original documents on a freelance basis. Admitted a Freeman of the City of London in 1973 and in 1990 established Applied Art to broaden his sphere of work to encompass more armorial work, hatchments, gate shields, coach work as well as producing pictorial public house signs for Tollemache and Cobbold, Pubmaster and Greene King as well as freelance work for the College of Arms, City Livery Companies, Guildhall etc. A member of the Creative Freelance Group, a showcase for artists and illustrators based in the Ipswich area of Suffolk, and a member of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators; the Heraldry Society and a Fellow of the Society of Heraldic Artists. David designed Royal Cyphers for HRH Princess of Wales and HRH Duchess of York and produced and painted armorial hatchments for both Lord Cholmondeley and Lord Marlesford. He built Museum sets for the Suffolk Punch Museum, Shire Hall, Woodbridge featuring copy Hector Moores Forge, Roger Miles Saddlery, Horsemans Cottage, etc., and painted a series of murals in the entrance hall, foyer, and dining room of the Bell Hotel, Saxmundham and many other local paintings. David painted board to commemorate the visit of the Queen to the Watermen's Company and executed a line drawing of the conjoined Arms of the Archbishop of Canterbury to enable a Block to be made for gold embossing on leather for a gift to the Pope on his visit to England in 2011. http://www.truzzi.co.uk
