BARTER, Peter
Peter James Barter was born at Meadowside, Eye, Suffolk in February 1940, son of Herbert Edward Treseder Barter (1 August 1907-13 February 1975), and his wife Doris Edna May Long (14 April 1904-1 October 1987), only daughter of Leonard William Long of Eye, who married at Eye Parish Church on 4 January 1936. Peter married at Bridgend, Glamorgan in 1965 Patricia Dorothy Rees and their daughter is Sarah Delgado Barter. After a career in the Royal Navy, Peter became a dental surgeon and practised in Suffolk, Norfolk, and Cornwall. He retired in 2005 and became a self-taught artist, painting landscapes and seascapes, capturing the big Suffolk skies. He currently lives at Diss on the Norfolk/Suffolk border and has exhibited at the Carousel Gallery in Framlingham, Suffolk and elsewhere.
