COLLEY, Sarah

As Helen Sarah Ann Butler, she was born at Paddington, London on 4 February 1936, only daughter and eldest child of Hon. Pierce Alan Somerset David Butler (12 November 1909-11 January 1964), youngest son of the late Earl of Carrick, and his wife Leri née Llywellyn-Jones (1907-23 February 1985), who married at Llaneugrad, Anglesey on 9 June 1933. Sarah married at Saffron Walden, Essex on 19 October 1957, Anthony Thomas Colley but they were divorced in 1969, but she still painted under the name of Sarah Colley. Sarah has always been involved with animals and has kept her own point-to-pointers and show horses and, from 2004 lived and worked from Fosters Buildings, Hartest, Bury St Edmund's in Suffolk but now resides at Glemsford in Suffolk. Sarah is a member of the Lavenham Art Society and has exhibited in Newmarket, Norwich, Bury St Edmund's and at the Society of Equestrian Artists exhibitions at Christie's in London and National Horseracing Museum at the Palace House Gallery, Newmarket and has paintings and prints on show at the National Stud, Newmarket, Suffolk. Her painting of 'Silver Patriarch' was commissioned by the National Stud and is on display at Wavertree House at the National Stud and she has paintings in private collections globally and has had many interesting commissions which include human and animal portraits and landscapes. Sarah undertakes commissions for animal and human portraits and will also paint landscapes of choice.
