GIMSON, Nancy Kate
Nancy Kate Gimson was born at Chelmsford, Essex on 7 July 1904, daughter of Dr William Douglas Gimson (1865-21 May 1929), physician surgeon, and his wife Anne Margaret Martin (27 May 1875-16 November 1956), only daughter of Alexander Maughan Martin of Kidbrook Grove, Blackheath, who married at St John's Church, Sidcup, Kent on 1 June 1898. In 1911, Nancy was a 6-year-old, living at 195 Springfield Road, Chelmsford with her parents, 46-year-old William and 35-year-old Anne, with three siblings, William Alexander 11, Charles Douglas 9 and Mary Elizabeth 5, they retained five indoor servants. In January 1934 Nancy exhibited at the 35th Exhibition of the Pastel Society in London and at the Ipswich Art Club from St Fabian's, Chelmsford in 1935, two oil paintings 'Benjamin' and 'Shut Out'. In 1939, she was living at 'Bucks', Runsell Green, Chelmsford with her widowed mother Anne, Anne's brother Robert Martin and his wife Kathleen. Nancy Kate Gimson died at 13 Woodland Close, Staverton, Totnes, Devon on 6 October 1982, she was unmarried.
