GARRETT, John
John Garrett, a retired chartered engineer, came to print making through woodturning. Encouraged by fellow Sudbourne Park Printmakers artists at Woodbridge, Suffolk, he has worked with lino, soft cut, and wood slices, but mostly works with ply for his woodcuts. He creates portraits from photographs, exploring the challenge of making monochrome designs from grey-scale or colour images. A member of the British Printing Society, he is working on prints of east coast rivers, their sailing craft and horse-drawn farm machines. Garrett has exhibited works at Aldeburgh, Framlingham, Snape and Sudbourne.
