BAYLEY, Florence Kate
Florence Kate Bayley was born at Ipswich on 26 January 1864, eldest of the three daughters of James Rogers Bayley, a ship owner, and his wife Catherine née Ridley (1838-27 January 1870), daughter of Frederick Ridley, a currier, who married at Turret Green Chapel, Ipswich on 15 January 1863. Florence studied at the Ipswich School of Science & Art and in 1880 gained a certificate in freehand drawing. In 1881, a 16-year-old, living at Oakland House, Broughton Road, Ipswich with her 55-year-old father James, who was born at Woodbridge, Suffolk, and two sibling sisters, Ada Mary (1866-1961) and Edith Annie (1868-1896), both born at Ipswich, and they were still living there in 1891. Florence married at Ipswich in 1897, Clarkson Piper (1854-1938), and in 1901 a 36-year-old living at 1 Clarkson Street, Ipswich with her 46-year-old husband, Clarkson, a retired woollen draper, and their son Douglas Norman Clarkson 1, and they retained two indoor servants. In 1939, a widow living at 3 Warrington Road, Ipswich with her second son William Bayley Piper (12 December 1901-13 December 1966), a motor engineer & garage proprietor. Florence Kate Piper died at 3 Warrington Road, Ipswich on 23 November 1948.
