LINDSAY, Thomas

1792 - 1861

Thomas Lindsay, was born at Alnwick, Northumberland on 26 December 1792. He married at St Pancras Old Church, London on 24 September 1822, Mary Margaret Short. A landscape painter who was elected to the New Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1833. He lived in London and at 20 Circus Street, Greenwich, Kent drawing Thames views. In 1851, a 57[sic] year old landscape painter, living at Dulas Cottage, Cusop, Hay-on-Wye, Breconshire, Wales with his 54 year old wife Mary Margaret. He exhibited at the Suffolk Fine Art Association [q.v.] at Ipswich in 1850 four watercolours 'Dulas Brook, at Hay', 'Brook Scene', 'Going to Market' and 'Cusop Mill, near Hay'. He died at Dulas Cottage, Cusop on 23 January 1861, leaving a widow Mary Margaret Lindsay.
