GOOCH, Amabel Purefoy Faulkner
As Amabel Purefoy Faulkner Paine, she was born at Weston, Hertfordshire on 25 March and baptised at Weston on 30 April 1899, eldest child and only daughter of Revd Nigel Wood Paine (11 December 1870-1946) and his wife Mabel Beatrice Tylston Hodgson (15 April 1877-10 August 1964), only daughter of Henry Tylston Hodgson of Welcombe, Hertfordshire, who married at Harpenden Parish Church, Hertfordshire on 11 January 1898. In 1911, Amabel was a 12-year-old living, at the Rectory, Great Melton, Norfolk with her parents Nigel 40 and Mabel 33, with two sibling brothers, Ronald Wood 8 and Humphrey John 5, who were both born at Great Melton. Amabel married at Great Melton, Norfolk on 11 January 1929, Charles Huddleston Gooch (12 September 1902-15 November 1983), eldest son of Sir Henry and Lady Gooch of Henstead, Norfolk. Amabel was a member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle from Market Weston, Suffolk 1949-1951. Amabel Purefoy Faulkner Gooch was of Tigh-nan-Gaoth, Onich, Inverness when she died at Belford Hospital, Fort William, Inverness on 1 September 1954 and buried in Innis-na-Bhirlin cemetery in Scotland, her husband died at 28 Brook Street, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1983.
